Butterflies!

Numerous Whites
within my sights

Speckled Wood
where I stood.

Meadow Brown
arrived in town.

Admiral Red
above my head.

Tortoiseshell
weaved it's spell

Peacock eyes
a nice surprise.

Holly Blue
fluttered through.

Keeper of the Gate
never too late.

Copper Small
best of all!

  1. Inspired by taking part in the butterfly count for Butterfly Conservation......unfortunately not all the species in the poem showed within the 15 minutes allowed! lol

  2. It has been good to see so many butterfly species this summer but apart from the Whites and Speckled Woods they have not been in great numbers, well not in my area.lol!

  4. Not one Painted Lady for me either Ruth, in my garden or whilst on walks! I did see Small Copper and Speckled Wood out on a walk this morning....they were enjoying the welcome sunshine!
